Money & People

The people who run the institute

Staff profiles, leave types and balances, requests and approvals, the staff register, and holidays.

One of the four we would rather you knew about before a demo than after one. What exists is below; so is what does not.

A facilitator leading a small group training session around a table.

What it does

Staff profiles

Records, not payroll.

Leave

Types, balances, requests, approvals — everybody sees their own.

A staff register

Attendance for the people who teach, not only for the people who learn.

Holiday calendars

Which the leave balance actually reads.

How it actually works

Everybody’s leave screen is the same screen

It is gated on holding your own leave, not on being able to approve one; the approval queue is simply empty for anybody who cannot decide. A separate manager screen would mean two places for the same fact to disagree.

The permission keys it adds

A sample. Each is a real key in the catalogue, described for a school administrator rather than an engineer.

Who holds it

  • HR Manager
  • Institute Admin
  • Teacher

The shipped role templates that hold it by default. Each is a copy you own and can edit — nothing in the code reads a role's name.

And what it does not

Naming these here is cheaper for both of us than discovering them in week six of a pilot.

What this does not do yet

Naming these is cheaper for both of us than discovering them in week six.

A hundred seats, twenty-five courses and no conversation. If you would rather see it driven by someone who knows it, that takes twenty minutes.
